...Our Story

Banba Band was created from real life in the world of Irish dance.

Irish dancing has been a huge part of my life for many years. Throughout my own dancing journey, I was lucky enough to win many World and All-Ireland medals and to place in the top 10 at most major competitions in both solo and team dancing. Alongside that, I’ve also had the opportunity to travel parts of the world performing in shows, gigs, and performances, while making some of the best friends along the way.

Over the years, I’ve also been lucky enough to help teach children of all ages the art of Irish dancing, supporting young dancers as they worked to perfect their own technique and confidence on the world stage. Through both my own competitive experience and the many years spent helping others in the sport, I’ve built a deep knowledge and understanding of Irish dancing and all the little details that come with it.

One of those details was the plastic tape dancers use to secure their shoes.

It worked, but it was never ideal. It created waste, needed to be replaced constantly, and wasn’t always the most comfortable or practical option. Over time, I kept coming back to the same thought: surely there had to be a better way.

That’s where the idea for Banba Band began.

I wanted to create something that could replace the need for plastic tape while still giving dancers the secure fit they need. It had to be practical, comfortable, reusable, and look good too - because in Irish dancing, performance and presentation both matter.

Banba Band was designed to offer dancers a more sustainable, stylish, and cost-effective alternative. Instead of using disposable tape over and over again, dancers can use a product that is made for the job, feels comfortable to wear, and is designed with Irish dancers in mind.

But Banba Band is more personal than that too.

The name Banba comes from my daughter, and anyone who knows her will understand just how much of this journey has been inspired by her. She is at the heart of Banba Band and the reason this means so much more than just a product.

What started as an idea from everyday life in the Irish dancing world has grown into something much bigger - a product built from experience, shaped by the needs of dancers, and created to bring a modern solution to a long-standing problem.

Banba Band is for dancers, teachers, and families who understand the little details that go into Irish dancing life. It’s about making things easier, reducing waste, and creating something that looks as good as it works.

And this is only the beginning.
